Mission

The mission of the Center of Innovation on Disability and Rehabilitation Research VISN 8 (CINDRR) is to conduct research that identifies, develops, and tests strategies for (1) improving Veteran rehabilitation services across the continuum of care and (2) long term support for Veterans with disabilities and their families, including issues related to access, utilization, cost, quality, and health outcomes.

CINDRR will improve rehabilitation outcomes and long term management of disability by: (1) advancing approaches to support Community Reintegration and Caregiving; (2) improving the efficiency and precision of rehabilitation and disability management outcomes measurement by integrating Rehabilitation Analytics Research; and (3) employing the use of Rehabilitation Technology to provide innovative clinical approaches.

CINDRR’s research will advance the science of rehabilitation through sustained work in rehabilitation outcomes (for example, health-related quality of life, satisfaction, access, utilization, cost, care quality, and patient safety) across selected populations (for example, Traumatic Brain Injury, Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder, Spinal Cord Injury, stroke) using consistent measures of key concepts across studies (CRIS and MPAI). And, CINDRR will develop disability population-specific measures that will allow comparisons with other populations.
