Sandra (Sandy) Winkler is a Supervisory Research Health Science Specialist at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital, Tampa, FL and the Center of Innovation on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (CINDRR). Dr. Winkler began her research career as a VA Pre-doctoral fellow. Dr. Winkler’s research areas of interest include access to rehabilitation, virtual and assistive rehabilitation technologies for Veterans with chronic conditions, and virtual-assisted clinical decision making. Dr. Winkler’s current research investigates care provided to Veterans with TBI-related vision and vestibular dysfunction and the use of virtual technologies to train Veterans and staff in post-fall assessment, diabetic education, and self-management for amputees.
