Vijay Vasudevan, PhD

Post-Doctoral Fellow
Dr. Vasudevan earned his PhD in Disability Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he studied barriers to physical activity for those with mobility impairments. Before that he earned both his BHS and MPH at the University of Florida. A long-standing member of the American Public Health Association (APHA), he served as the Student Liaison to the Disability Section Executive Council from 2010 to 2012. In November 2018, the APHA Disability Section honored him with a New Investigator Award.
Currently, Dr. Vasudevan is exploring how to promote the participation of Veterans with disability in VA’s MOVE! Program. This is a program designed by the VA National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention to encourage physical activity and healthy eating behavior in Veterans to improve their quality of life and health. He is also working on a randomized control trial on the impact of a telephone-based intervention to improve the mental health of persons acting as caregivers for their spouses who have had a stroke.
